WhakapapaThe Barrett Family TreeThe children of Metapere Ngawini Barrett are listed from the left, the youngest, and leading up to the right, to the eldest. There is a younger sibling, however, they choose not to be included on this website. Clicking on a name will bring up a tree of their children and Mokopuna starting from the top, the eldest, to the bottom of the tree, the youngest. Also included are current spouses/partners. So where did Dicky Barrett come from? Anyone know? I might have to go and research it... (Dick (Richard) Barrett, who Barrett Hammond is named after came from London and was a whaler and merchant sailor. There are many books about him. It is noted that he was married to a Taranaki woman with two daughters when our Tipuna was born. His grave is in New Plymouth and I'm sure I still have a photo of his tombstone. I was taken there some years ago and the Kuia who did the Karanga from the bottom of the hill and all the way up to his grave was the mother of Mahara Okeroa MP for Te Tai Tonga. He has the same twinkle in his eyes that she had. Tuti Wetere took us there. She is a descendant of Love who was a Whangai brother to Dick.) - Insert from Aroha Reriti-Crofts CBE JP. Last thing...if you have a look at the picture on the front page you'll see her hair change to a purple tint and also a glint coming from her mouth. If you don't know why then ask your Mum or Dad and if they don't know, ask your Taua or Poua... |
