WhakapapaFamily MokoThe Moko used for the Website logo was designed by Huia Reriti and introduced to the Whanau at the Barrett Whanau Reunion held at the Pa in Tuahiwi in 1996. Since then, many of the Whanau have adorned their bodies in various places with this design and some have added their own individuality to it. Its obviously moko wahine with the outside design being of Ngai Tahu origin and the inside design is Ngati Mamoe. The original outside “ring” depicts an Indian drum and looks like a dream catcher, acknowledging Louisa Hunter’s heritage as well. A Photo of the original design will be added as soon as I can get my camera to @#$% work!
The name “5crossroads” is a landmark up home at Tuahiwi where five roads meet at an intersection. The Crofts have land up there that they inherited from Poua Ted, so this is our acknowledgement of our Poua,
